Westbury Court is a 5 storey mixed use scheme including 17 flats ranging from 1 to 3 bedrooms, with 4 retail units covering 5000sqft on the ground floor. Occupying a corner plot, this development will be a prominent addition to the street scene as viewed from the newly formed Pioneer Square. The building is situated on Wesley Lane, a route that links Bicester’s historic highstreet to the modern retail area. The multimillion pound contract represents a cornerstone in this part of the redevelopment of the town, the final piece of a jigsaw linking new to old.
This project was delivered by West Waddy using software for Building Information Modelling (BIM). This software enables designers, consultants and clients to view and collaborate on a single 3D computer model. The aim of BIM is to improve design efficiency and quality control, which helps to reduce building waste, resulting in sustainable and cost effective construction and improved performance throughout the life cylce of a building.
From a client’s point of view, BIM is not only a model that can be shared during the design stage, but ultimately, it can be used by maintenance teams to monitor the life of building components and even automatically order replacement parts.
