The former stables at East Lockinge were redundant and had fallen into disrepair. Our brief was to undertake a sensitive conversion of this derelict building for use as high quality office accommodation.
Our design approach was to undertake the minimum amount of work necessary to restore the structure to a serviceable condition and to meet modern office standards. The external fabric and elevations have been sensitively restored to retain the original external features without excessive intervention. Internally spaces have been opened up to expose the roof structure and to create a feeling of space.
Following the completion and occupation of the building we successfully applied for planning consent to replicate the building in courtyard arrangement thereby doubling the lettable floor area. Phase 2 which was all new build construction mirrors the materials and features of the original and gives the impression that the whole development was created out of a single conversion scheme.
