As part of wider masterplan developments at the campus of Lord Wandsworth College, West Waddy were appointed for full architectural services (RIBA stages 1-5) for the design and construction of the Headmaster’s house.
Existing buildings on the site are predominantly red brick, built in the Arts and Crafts style. The detailing of the dwelling reflects the vernacular of adjacent buildings. Diapering to the chimney column, and stone detailing to door and window surrounds are amongst the details that give this dwelling it’s status and presence on the site.
Though traditional in appearance, the building is designed to perform to very high standards of energy conservation, with very highly insulated perimeter fabric, and features underfloor heating giving modern comfort in a traditional setting.
