West Waddy provided Town Planning and Architectural services for our private client who was seeking to redevelop land in the Green Belt to provide a large single dwelling. The site, located near Garsington in Oxfordshire, was a former builders yard, with a few existing structures.
With a carefully considered design and layout, West Waddy designed a high quality, low energy, contemporary dwelling that was predominantly positioned below ground. Subsequently we were able to demonstrate that the above ground volume of the dwelling would be no more than the volume of existing structures on the site.
A variety of technical disciplines were engaged and evidence submitted to the local council to demonstrate that the proposed development had little impact on the openness of the Green Belt which resulted in the scheme receiving planning permission.
The contemporary design, landscaping and use of high quality materials throughout showed that the dwelling would be a worthy addition to the area, redeveloping the current unsightly operations of the builders yard to a use more in keeping with the principles of the greenbelt.
