West Waddy on behalf of Stroud District Council (SDC) are pleased to present this proposal for the redevelopment of a vacant residential site within Cam.
SDC currently controls 5,200 homes and is the largest social landlord within the district with stock spread throughout the local authority area.
In 2015 SDC commissioned a review of its’ 28 sheltered housing schemes, the purpose of the review was to establish sustainability and make recommendations for future use. As a result of this review 1-32 Glebelands was recommended for redevelopment and forms part of SDC’s New Homes and Regeneration programme that is set to deliver approximately 95 new high-quality homes across the District by March 2023.
The redevelopment seeks to deliver 23 new high quality 1,2&3 bedroom social housing for rent and shared ownership in place of the existing sheltered Housing facility at 1-32 Glebelands. The design development was led by careful consideration of elevation treatments to provide a sense of modernity whilst complementing the surrounding buildings. The design incorporates a largely red brick with tonal variation, similar to the materiality of the surrounding area. The colour palette of the proposed design draws inspiration from existing prominent street facades but with contemporary detailing which aids legibility to the modern insertion in the street scene.
