West Waddy are delighted to secure a valuable planning permission for residential development at appeal, following earlier refusal by South Oxfordshire District Council.
The scheme is for the construction of two substantial five bedroom dwellings in the village of Whitchurch Hill located in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). SODC had previously refused the scheme on the grounds that the proposals would have significant detrimental impact on the character and appearance of the AONB, that the village was unsustainable for new dwellings, and that the site itself did not meet their policy definition of ‘infill development’.
Despite the resistance to development at this site, our team were able to challenge each of these issues and successfully persuade the Inspector to overturn SODC’s decision regarding each of these matters in turn. Discussions are now underway with our client to take the scheme forward to construction.
