PHILIP D WADDY, RIBA FRSA

PERSONAL PROFILE

With over twenty years experience as a Partner or Principal in private practice, Philip Waddy BA Hons. Dip. Arch, (Oxford) RIBA FRSA commenced his architectural practice following success in a number of architectural competitions in the 1980s, including the prestigious Cherry Garden Pier Housing development in London Docklands. Through the 1980s his young practice increased in size and in 1986 merged with the long established Abingdon practice of Duncan West to form West Waddy.

During the 1990s, Philip Waddy directed a period of sustained growth and diversification particularly embracing new technology to operate a fully computerised office. Increasing staff numbers, plus a further merger in 1999 with Associated Design Partnership, has since seen the firm develop into one of the larger practices in Oxfordshire combining Architects, Town Planners and Urban Designers under one roof.

Philip Waddy is experienced at steering complex developments to completion. His particular abilities are in the role of project management and his track record in getting results for clients is borne out by the number of repeat commissions received by the practice.

Philip also has a special interest and expertise in historic buildings having successfully undertaken a number of sensitive conversion and restoration schemes to listed buildings. He is a consultant architect to the Friends of Abingdon, with responsibility for maintenance and upkeep of the Abbey Buildings and is responsible for surveying the fabric of many churches in Oxfordshire.

Philip is presently chairman of the RIBA Southern Region Planning Group.
