PERSONAL PROFILE

John has been employed in the Town Planning profession within the United Kingdom for over 29 years. During this time his experiences include structure and local planning, development control – including developments within conservation areas and which affect listed buildings – appeals and enforcement work in both the public and private sectors.

John has considerable experience of all planning matters ranging from small projects to significant development promotions in all the development sectors. Between 1977 and 1980 John was employed by Wakefield Metropolitan District Council, working within both the development control section and the local planning (implementation) section. Between 1980 and 1988 he held the position of Principal Planning Officer at Oxford City Council with the responsibility of an area team implementing the development control function of the Council which included aspects associated with conservation areas, listed buildings and enforcement.

John has handled a number of Planning Inquiries associated with the developments, which improve both conservation areas and listed buildings.

Over the years John has successfully promoted medium to long-term development opportunities through the Development Plan Process for sites ranging in size for 50-1100 dwellings.

John is currently acting for a number of clients making representations through Local Development Frameworks

From February 1988 to February 1999 he was a Partner responsible for planning matters with Associated Design Partnership (Oxford), chartered architects and town planners (ADP).

ADP merged with West Waddy architects and since February 1999, John has been the partner with West Waddy ADP responsible for town planning matters.

John has spoken at seminars upon the implications for Planning Policy Guidance note 3, housing, affordable housing sustainability and its implications for development within rural areas.
